BALTIMORE (June 20, 2024) – SECU, Maryland’s largest state-chartered credit union, has been named to Forbes’ 2024 list of Best-in-State Credit Unions, one of just four fellow credit unions in the state of Maryland to be recognized by this prestigious list. The list of credit unions was selected by Forbes and market data research firm Statista after a comprehensive study analyzing publicly available data and consumer surveys for credit unions in the United States. The Best-in-State title reinforces SECU’s standing as a credit union that provides excellent banking services and is among the most valued by its clients.
Rankings are based on an independent survey of approximately 26,000 United States-based consumers who were asked to rate credit unions at which they have or previously have had a checking and/or saving account. CUs were rated in six different categories: Trust, Terms & Conditions, Branch Services, Digital Services, Customer Services, and Financial Advice.
For each credit union, in each state, a sentiment analysis approach of publicly available online text reviews and ratings was also applied to score reviews and feedback.
“It is an incredible honor for SECU to be named on the Forbes list of Best-in-State Credit Unions. This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to people-first, community-centered banking,” said David Sweiderk, SECU President and CEO. “We take immense pride in offering a wide range of products, solutions, and holistic financial wellness services that deliver optimal value to our members across Maryland.”
This honor follows on the heels of SECU’s recognition on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions in January 2024. The credit union also won the Innovators Award for Most Effective Branch Technology Implementation from Future Branches, the premier conference for digital innovation in the banking and finance sector, for the implementation of their Virtual Financial Centers (VFCs) in 2023. SECU also received The Baltimore Sun’s Top Workplace Award in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
